RoboCup objectives are promoting science and technologies in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) through appealing and challenging competitions for research institutes, universities and schools.
The guiding idea of RoboCup is: “By the middle of the 21st century, a team of fully autonomous humanoid robot soccer players shall win a soccer game, complying with the official rules of FIFA, against the winner of the most recent World Cup.”
RoboCup is a worldwide initiative. The German RoboCup Regional Committee coordinates all RoboCup activities in Germany.
RoboCup in Germany comprises a large community with RoboCupJunior activities at schools and RoboCup Major teams at universities as well as research institutes. The yearly event and meeting point for the whole community is the RoboCup German Open. It will take place in 2023 as a decentralized event.
