The different competitions of RoboCup are divided into two categories.
The RoboCup Major Leagues are research competitions for scientists and students. Participating teams come from international universities and research institutions.
RoboCupJunior Leagues include junior competitions for high school students between the ages of 10 and 19. The participating teams come from robotics clubs at schools or from extracurricular places of learning.
